Which brand this profile covers

Mecca is one of the most familiar bingo names in Britain, and it exists in two forms: bingo clubs on the high street and a website at meccabingo.com. This profile looks at the group behind both, the company that the Gambling Commission's public register names as the licensee for the website, and the brands that sit beside Mecca. It sticks to what the group and the regulator publish, and it points out where those records stop.

The short answer: Mecca belongs to The Rank Group, which presents it as its UK community-gaming brand. Online, the register lists meccabingo.com under a licensed company called Rank Interactive (Gibraltar) Limited.

Rank's own description sets the scene. It calls Mecca its community-gaming brand in the UK, with 41 venues offering bingo, gaming machines, food and drink and live entertainment. The same page places Mecca among the group's digital brands, next to Grosvenor in the UK, Yo and Enracha in Spain and Yo in Portugal.

How the clubs and the website connect

The clubs and the website share a name and a group, but they are licensed separately. A bingo club in Great Britain operates under permissions tied to its building, while a gambling website needs a remote operating licence. For meccabingo.com, the register names Rank Interactive (Gibraltar) Limited as that remote licensee. Despite the word Gibraltar in its name, the record gives a head office in Maidenhead, and it shows bingo, casino, betting and gambling software activities, each active since 11 March 2022.

One detail is worth reading carefully. Each domain on a register record carries a status, and on this record meccabingo.com is marked Active. A domain can also appear as Inactive, which records a past or dormant listing rather than a current one, so the status column is what tells you whether a record describes the website as it is run today.

Rank's page confirms that Mecca and Grosvenor sit in the same group. It describes Grosvenor Casinos as the UK's largest multi-channel casino operator, with 50 venues. That is a direct statement of common ownership from the group itself, so describing Mecca and Grosvenor as sister brands is supported.

The register adds more names. Under Rank Interactive (Gibraltar) Limited it lists active domains that include kittybingo.com, luckypantsbingo.com, magicalvegas.com, regalwins.com, rialtocasino.com, spinandwin.com, luckyvip.com, bellacasino.com and thevic.com. Rank separately says it runs ten UK digital-only brands on its own technology platforms. Be precise about what each source proves. The register shows that one licensee operates these websites, which makes them related through their operator. Rank's page, as we read it, does not list the ten digital-only brands by name, so we do not match names to that figure ourselves.

Several points stay unconfirmed by the sources used here: whether these websites share one customer account system, whether balances or promotions carry across them, and whether any brand name is used under licence from another company. We do not guess at any of them.

Has ownership changed?

None of our sources describes a change of ownership for Mecca. The date of 11 March 2022 on the register is the start date of the current licence activities, not an acquisition date, and it should not be read as one. If Mecca's ownership changes, we will cover it in Ownership Updates with the original announcement and its date.

Where to go next

Mecca is a useful first example because the group's description and the regulator's record line up neatly. For contrast, read our profile of Jackpotjoy, where the brand, the licensee and the listed parent group carry three different names. To repeat the checks used on this page yourself, see how to check whether two casino brands are related. More profiles are collected under Brand Profiles.

In short

Mecca is Rank's UK community-gaming brand, with 41 venues and a website. The site runs under Rank Interactive (Gibraltar) Limited, and Rank itself confirms Grosvenor as a sister brand. Other websites listed under the same licensee share an operator with Mecca; anything beyond that, such as shared accounts or brand licensing, is not confirmed by the records we used.
